if you want to learn spanish, this is very possible here, although 2 semesters are required to get a high level. great city, nice people, good level of education and of course lots of stuff to do. in short: if you feel attracted to spain and spanish stuff, you should come to madrid.

An opportunity to spend a year abroad at UC Berkeley
ÁNGELA P

International Relations, 2024
Overall
University Carlos III of Madrid is one the best universities for social science students in Spain. Campus is located in a town nearby Madrid, Getafe, and it counts on good facilities taking into account that it is a small university. In genera, professors are experienced professionals and researchers. Students are hard-working people coming from all regions of Spain. Furthermore, the university has agreements with many institutions where you can spend a year abroad, both in and outside the European Union.

Nevertheless, the evaluation system of the university makes it really stressful for students. Normally, the continuous assessments requires projects (both individual and team), presentations and discussions. However, the final exam, that normally represents between the 50 or 60% of the grade still needs to be passed for the grade obtained in the continuous assessment to be taken into account. Furthermore, the design of the courses could be improved, as well as the ways of teaching and engaging with materials.

Pros
They have a great amount or really intelligent and hard-working students coming from all over Spain.
Cons
In general, resources offered to students, and specially, mental health counseling.

This is a very good university. In fact, even the Spaniard consider it. A very good knowledge of the language (almost native I'd say) is required if you want to take courses in Spanish. I know that they have courses in English but I don't know which ones.

Get to know Madrid before you go and try to improve your Spanish (if you're a native speaker) before you go. I'd definitely recommend this university if asked.

Experiencia en la universidad
María C
Spain, Undergraduate
Business Studies, 2020
Overall

I wish I had known that sharing an apartment independently with other students would have ensured interaction with other international students my age.

I enjoyed my experience abroad. My advice is to keep an open mind and make friends with students your age. They will really take care of you over there...especially those living there who are also not native to the country.
