“Learning Biotechnology in Madrid”

Valoración global

Since September 2018 I have been studying Biotechnology at the Polytechnic University of Madrid. During these years I have learned from many disciplines related to science. I have had subjects such as immunology, cell and tissue biology, genetic engineering, molecular genetics, microbiology, virology.... The ones that most caught my attention were all those that led to the study at the molecular level as it is what I am most passionate about. These years of study have shown me what I am capable of and have awakened in me a great interest in research.

It's better to start in September since new people arrive. In february there are already groups made up.

It's a serious university. If you have a full programm (especiall aeronautics) you will have to work a lot learning Spanish and doing exams/projects

Take the bus in stead of train if you travel. Adapt to Spanish biorythm (lunch at 2-3, dinner at 9-10)

Choose well the location were you gonna live in Madrid because the neigfhbourhoods are quite different

¿Por qué?

Because you live with different people together in one house. It's social but still smaller than a residency (expensive, rules)

The housing done by the university was really bad. I ended up in a house 40 minuts from the campus. I didn't sign any contract, hired two weeks and started looking on my own.

They don't care at all about finding you an accomodation. They don't even asnwer your question about courses or staying through e-mail. Anyway, the situation is not so bad once you are there (they have a good organisation, after all).
