I would advice students to be carefull when they choose their place to live. Try to meet the persons you will be living with before accepting the room. You've got plenty of rooms to rent (in flat already fournished)so you'll get one easily.

No, we were very well briefed by our host university. And I enjoyed discovering everything I did discover while out there.

Travel round Spain as much as you can while you are there as it is all part of the experience. Use coaches as they are very reliable and cheap.

Academic
Course recommendations
I stuck to the more marketing-based courses, which were very informative, and presented a different way of looking at things to the way I was taught in England. The majority of the teachers are very approachable and knowledgeable.

Personal comments
I would recommend a better integration of Erasmus students with local students. Many work groups were formed entirely by local students, who were very cliquey. This left out the Erasmus students, giving us limited opportunities to improve our spoken Spanish.

Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - My choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
An apartment gives flexibility and the opportunity to live close to your faculty. Living with friends makes the year fun, and sharing with Spaniards increased language skills.

Personal comments
There was a lot on offer, with lists of housing published all around the university. The halls of residence were very far out from the town centre, and were only really useful for accessing the campus. I did not manage to share with any Spaniards, but doing so would have been a huge advantage.

I was not supposed to go ther but finally it was a incredible experience. A great advantage is that Alcala is really close to Madrid. So you don't pay as much as in Madrid and you can go out in Madrid whenever you want
