In the categories in which I spent less I did so because prices in Argentina concerning these categories arr lower. I spent more for housing because in Viena I live at home & therefore don´t have to pay for it. I payed more for travelling in Argentina than in Austria because I travelled a lot more than I usually do in Austria.

Buenos Aires is an expensive city and we ended up paying our accomodations in US dollars! Traveling was cheap so I decided to travel a lot more than in France.

I spend less money in my host country because the exchange money from US dollars to Argentina´s pesos is better change than US Dollars to Colombian Pesos. Argentina it´s cheaper than Colombia in Housing and Food.

I lived near the university, so my transport costs were lower than in London. I didn't use a mobile phone nor a home phone so that cost was lower too. The nightlife in Bs As is expensive but Belgrano organised free parties at different nightclubs every week so that kept that cost down. The food in supermarkets was many times slightly more expensive than in London.

Bs As is normally expensive but after the parity with the dollar was dropped, it's now a lot cheaper. Go to the parties that Belgrano organises because they are good and that way you save a lot of money. Make an effort to find cheaper restaurants because they do exist (ie don't stick to Recoleta).

Life in Argentina and above all in Buenos Aires (in almost any category) is a lot more expensibe than in France.
Further more, the currencies there are the Peso and the American dolar (both have exactly the same rate), and at that time, the $ was very expensive for French people.
