Pick your courses with care, avoid law courses 8which are spanish-law-oriented courses with very difficult linquistic content).
speak good spanish before coming, students who don´t can get in trouble.

*Prepare for the unbearable summer heat.
*Take care before buying mobile phones.
*Leave your car in your home country:no parking space and a lot of annoying troubles(especially for french students)
.
* Go and travel around, it is doable to mix travelling with your studies and the region marvelous!!

the music teacher is the sweetest person in the world...she brought us cookies on the first day of class and then invited all of us over to her house for dinner at the end of the semester.

the teachers were regular spanish professors and they didnt understand the american system of grading. we were grading spanish style and most of the spanish students dont expect to pass a course/exam the first time around. so it was frustrating that the grades that us americans got effected our gpa's when we were really graded the same way that we were used to in the states.

I went to Spain as an ESL teacher's assistant and simultaneously finished my Master's in Spanish. I stayed for a year and it was the most memorable year of my life. I recommend that people study abroad for a year because the first semester is all about adapting. By the time you get used to it, it's time to leave. While you are in a different country, watch local TV, read local newspapers and hang around with locals. Sticking with other international students won't enrich your experience. Drink wine, enjoy the food and find yourself.

Course recommendations
The timetables were rather difficult to organise and I was unable to pick many of my preffered subjects because they clashed with other obligatory classes. However, European Studies was the most interesting and the teacher was very good!

The subjects which we were able to study within the timetable were not often relevant to what was being studied in our course in our Home University. The class exams were also marked negatively, if you got 10 answers wrong and 10 right you would get 0 which does not help you learn where you have gone wrong in the exam.

Practice the language you are supposed to be learning as much as you can. Don't revert to English because it's easier for you to communicate. Try your best to communicate in Spanish even with the Americans. Carry a little notebook with you everywhere so that you can write down new words and/or phrases that you learn.

I highly recommend studying Cordoba for a truly genuine study abroad experience without the infiltration of American culture.

When choosing a city, think thoroughly what you want to gain from the experience. My reason for going to Cordoba, a relatively little known city, was to get away from American students, immerse myself in the Spanish culture, and learn the Spanish language. Cordoba could not have been a better choice and my year living there has been the best year of my life!

Amazing experience!
Booking the bus or the train if you are planning a trip is strongly recommended.
