La Tertulia - an amazing local bar with frequent events - music performances, public readings of local authors, tango nights Mirador de San Nicolas - place with the most amazing vista over the city, located in the old city quarter Albaicin, every day full of flamenco singers and guitar players and with the breath-taking view over Alhambra, it was my favorite place to go to, sit down, read or just enjoy the atmosphere.

Housing
Type of housing: With a family
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
Living with a host family has its benefits but it is also nice to live in how you wish, for example being able to cook your own meals.

The housing was not affiliated with the host university, but with my home university. Living with a family was a good experience, especially for my first time abroad.

I felt I was well prepared for university life as I had taken a four-month course of Spanish in Cadiz earlier the same year. I was therefore used to speaking to people in different situations and settings and besides that, Spaniards are very approachable and easy-going. Apart from practising Spanish at univerisity and with friends, I also learnt Italian and some French through the interaction with other foreigners.
