if you want to relax from the hard time of your studies you can go out the whole weekend: in the night there is one part of the city where are only bars and pubs to dance with an amazing streetlife and atmosphere because it´s overcrowded of young people, during the day you can do a lot of sports in the atlantic ocean or the mountains, especially the trips to the mountains, i loved them, the nature seemed to be "untouched" of any human. but the best experience was a trip with an italian friend of mine along the north coast of spain to santander, bilbao and san sebastian where we could see a dolphin living there wild and free in the sea! this and a lot of other short trips on the weekends where i did know a lot of other students from all over the world visiting all the old buildings, eating typical food and going out with spanish friends to get really close to there way of life discussing about the life in general, political or historical issues or "only" about the experiences you´ve made in your life and the wishes and dreams you have, i don´t want to miss this moments and i´m happy that i have had the luck to make them.

I wish I had known...
a deeper knowledge about the subjects you can choose there, but that´s difficult for my university and even for my own, because spanish universities do not work very fast and they only things with a very short period of anticipation.

i think that it should be obligatory for every student to stay in a foreign country. when you are young you adopt much easier to another way of living and never in your life you will forget this experience. at any time of your life you will remember this period and you regress to your home country with a view a bit wider than before, maybe a bit more tolerant and interested in other cultures, which is in my opinion the fundamental for the peace in the future.

The city was bigger than I thought and there was a lot more walking involved. It was colder than I thought it would be. A cell phone was necessary.

Be prepared for more walking than they tell you about. It's a bigger city than they made it sound.

You have the choice to elect your teacher, to go either the morning or the afternoon to university.
Better go the morning.
It important to make extra work to have a very good mark.

my accommodation in germany was really cheap, but this was for reason of luck, usually the price level is the same.
the nightlife in spain is a lot cheaper than in germany because the drinks are less expensive and with more alcoholic content than in germany and in general you don´t pay entrance in spanish pubs and bars. there you can dance and so it is not necessary to go to a disco to dance which is common in germany and overall there you have to pay high entrances.
what about my travel costs? i think it´s obviously that you travel a lot more in a foreign country than you would usually do in your own country. that´s why my travel costs have been higher.

using the public bus system you can save a lot of money in comparison to german cars ( which is the cheapest way to travel there ). they offer a flexible timetable and a very good service.

Oviedo is a small but vibrant city; the nightlife is lots of fun and there are always concerts, cultural events or exhibitions going on. I loved my time in Asturias; I met lots of lovely people, got involved in the culture and the local music scene and had an all-round fantastic year.
