I wish I had known...
That university social life is quite different from back in the UK- I was used to an active society envioronment in Edinburgh, and didn't realize this was pretty much non existent over in Spain

Be prepared to encounter incredibly unhelpful, unfriendly and useless people who work in accomadation and secretarial offices, who tend to take coffee breaks during office hours! Don't be put off by them- they seem to be a race apart from the rest of the Spanish people!

Don't be afraid to communicate with your professors. They are completely unpatronizing and are willing to help you if you just ask.

I'm not sure, U. of Salamanca seemed very unorganized at first but I believe now that perhaps that's just they way it works. And it did work, so that's really what matters.

1. Pack light, you will find that you really do not need all the stuff. 2. Be open to new ideas and never compare cultures, they are all vastly different and that is the best part of studying abroad.

Course recommendations
Depending upon the type of program you are in, it could be hard to meet local students. If you're enrolled in Cursos Internacionales, you take classes in a separate part of the university than local students do, however, it is easy to meet other international students through such programs. One thing to do in order to meet local students is to get an intercambio.

Captilize on your time. I wished I would've gotten to know some psychologists because, currently, I would like to work and live in Barcelona.
