I believe that to efficiently learn a lanuage it is essential to spend time and live in a country where your chosen language is spoke. I would never be able to speak Spanish like I can if I had not spent time living and studying in Spain.

Try to spend more time w/natives. It's very tempting to spend too much time w/other Americans...I did. But I also made friends w/other Americans around the country and we're still in touch after 10 years....2 even came to my wedding!!!!

I'm a native spanish speaker, but the spanish accent from andalucia was a little difficult to understand. the regional dialect is very different from say, madrid or Barcelona.
make sure you pick courses that interest you and not only your friends, and make sure your teachers understand your level of the language isn't as good as the local students'.
