You have more independance and its a great way to meet new flatmates that are either natives to the country or are also erasmus students.

The location right in the centre of the city meant that it was possible to live a less isolated life that that of people living in University accommodation.

My main purpose of living with a host family was to learn the language as well as possible during my time in Seville. After returning many times and maintaining contacts with people in Seville, I am confident that I could live on my own or with a friend.

When I chose to study abroad in Spain and enhance my Spanish speaking skills, I felt that it was crucial to be immersed into the culture by living with a family. A family will incorporate you into their own and teach you certain things that you would not otherwise be introduced to living alone. I believe that living amongst a family was the best experience in my life at that time. Now that I am older, more mature and responsible, I believe that living in an apartment is more practical when upholding a job.

Because of the better possibility to get the language; flat sharing comunities are very often only together with foreign students
