Rosendo's on a Wednesday night is a real student tradition not to be missed out on; for food and mariachi, head to Cantina de los Remedios in Puebla. Travel-wise, pretty much most of Mexico is amazing and worth seeing, but Puerto Escondido is a must for fun at the seaside! Also, try to make it to the cayes of Belize.

Housing
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Home university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
Housing off campus is cheap and the rules in the dorms are SUPER strict.

You'll have a lot more freedom in your own apartment. Fortuntely I got along with my Mexican room mates really well. There were 7 of them in total. The washer/dryer was great to have, even if extravagant. There was also a biweekly maid service.

Housing
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
Living in the on campus dormitories was great for meeting people. However I would choose an shared apartment or house for privacy reasons

Personal comments
The dormitories were in a great location and they were quite modern. I was in a 4 bedroom apartment style dormitory sharing with 8 females. There was a full kitchen and lounge room. UDLA makes an effort to place foreign students in rooms with locals. It is a good idea.

Personal comments
I was already pretty fluent in Spanish before I started studying. However, I think my written Spanish improved during my time at UDLA. I didn't take any language courses but I knew international students who did and overall they seemed to be impressed by the quality of tuition.
