Because Witten is a small city and there is nothing to do, and if you live alone it can be boring.

Personal comments
All in all the University helped to find the accomodation. One has to be carefull in Germany, because normally the flats are rented empty not like in London where you have a bed and a table. So I would recommend to find people who are going abroad want to rent their flat for that time. (that is what I did)
