Even if the people in adminstrative positions aren't always nice, remember to stay positive and smile...perhaps they've had a bad day, or their cat died... in any case, you'll only have to deal with them from time to time.

Cafe de la Cloche off of Place Bellecour is quaint and friendly. Not too expensive either. Also in the summer, don't miss "Les Nuits de Fourviere". They are grand evening programs in the ancient roman amphitheatres overlooking the city.
