The more you try to speak it, even if you make mistakes, you gain cfonfidence rapidly, so the learning curve gets steeper and steeper.

Well, this was the same language I usually speak. But French people don't like Belgians all that much and think they're better than us, which makes social contact harder.

I liked the independence of living in an apartment in town with other students.

Finding housing was very difficult and little help or advice was offered from the university itself. In addition it was difficult to get in contact with the landlords to get things fixed. This was frustrating.
