Can be quite easy as an Erasmus student to just stick with Erasmus students, this was a really good way to meet French students and make sure i was speaking French.

On campus accomodation is arranged, pretty basic but had friends living there so it was good to meet other students. Staying in Residence Ouest, the best on campus accomodation - one tram stop down from the university. Houses/Apts can be organised through Crous v dependent on your budget and can send you to some dodgey areas. I found mine through luck, a billboard sign and was lucky that my housemates turned out to be really nice as with houses anywhere. Facilites are basic. As basement apt it did have its cockroaches. Always try to live at least a floor, if not two floors up.

Many flats are available in City Centre. On Campus accomodation is out of town and public transport stops running quite early. Rented accomodation allows more independence and the cost is about the same.

Univesity accomodation is quite far from city centre. Cost wise it is cheaper but the difference isn't great! Some flats they offer are in a relatively dangerous area - a friend of mine got mugged by his flat

Housing
Type of housing: Student housing in downtown
Arranged by: Independently - I had no other choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
My housing was up on a very big and steep hill and when there was no transportation you had to walk up. I was although better than being on campus if you wanted to go out at night.

Le Rabot was a class student residence that accomodated for 600 students which was good cos you met loadsa people easily enough, but was halfway up a mountain, but only 10/15 minutes walk to city centre. there was also a regular bus service to it. Toilets were a bit dodgy though. a hole in the ground to be precise.
