Why?
Many flats are available in City Centre.
On Campus accomodation is out of town and public transport stops running quite early.
Rented accomodation allows more independence and the cost is about the same.

Univesity accomodation is quite far from city centre. Cost wise it is cheaper but the difference isn't great!
Some flats they offer are in a relatively dangerous area - a friend of mine got mugged by his flat

CAfe Notre Dame...I was the manager
Couche Tard Pub -great place v. international, I worked there
London Pub- Also good for a laugh
Vieux Manoir(Club)- You'll end up there most nights
Vertigo (Club)- expensive Shithole in the city centre!
The bigger clubs are out of town! I recommend La Choue (for the experience)
Don't miss the arrival of the Nouveau Beaujolais! Great trip offered into the region with an all night drinking spree!

You will find that you interact mainly with other foreign students. Make an effort to meet local students and you will learn more. Alternatively get involved in activities outside the university. Eg. I played rugby for a local club and got a job in a bar
