Food: My mother does the shopping at home
Telephone: I had quite some expensive bills because I phoned with my boyfriend
Housing: the housing costs were €215 a month. (you have to pay it at the beginning)
Nightlife: was simular in prices compared to the Netherlands
Travel: In the Netherlands I can travel for free because I am a student and in Germany they do not have this card.

On weekends Deutsche Bahn offers something called a "Schoenes Wochenende Ticket", a relatively inexpensive train ticket that up to 4 people can split anywhere in Germany for the whole day. Ergo fantastic for day trips for groups of students/tourists.
