Personal spending habits
In Spain it is more usual to eat in a restaurant. In the Netherlands most of the time we were having dinner with friends at home. The telephone was more expensive because of the calls abroad. The accomodation which I found was really less expensive. The nightlife in this big city is really expensive in for example the discotheque. Off course you travel more than you normally do in you own country, so the expenses are higher. Overall the expenses are higher than in at home.

Personal comments
When I first got there I was a little timid about using my spanish in some situations. It was a little intimidating at first. After a while I became more comfortable and really enjoyed interacting with the locals. I think that living with a host family gave me the most help with improving my spanish.

Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Independently - I had no other choice
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
Because it has been a great experience: I lived with 5 girls coming from all Europe and we enjoyed ourselves very much. We made a lot of parties in the appartment, we didn't have any problem living together. There was a really good atmosphere in our house and there were always friends visiting someone.
