I was in flemish part of Belgium, so people there speak dutch as first, and french as second language. Everybody knows English but it is not the language that you read or listen hanging out for the city.

The language of instruction was english, so there weren´t any problem. With regard to local language, when I arrive there, I didn´t understand anything, but at the end, I could recognize a lot of words.

For German speaking people it's really easy to learn Dutch (at least if you had at least some introductory lessons)
