Gent is located in the Flemmish region of Belgium, where Dutch is the native language. However, since almost everyone, of all ages, speaks very good English, it is very easy to adapt and communicate with everyone, students and locals alike

almost everybody in flanders speaks english, there is no real need to learn dutch. For german speaking people dutch however is quite easy

it is good that in belgium most of the students speak enghlish so it was ok with me and also my prof.does speak english

Dutch is difficult to speak but finally I learnt enough to have an everyday conversation. Anyway I could speak english, because everybody there speak this language very good.
