Well, everybody can find something! My favorite places the Studenthouse DRIV (cheap food and many different "events"), Cafe Paletten (to play chess, drink Cafe au Lait and watch football on big screen), Cafe Aunegarden (to drink cafe and eat cake), the Hurtigruten ships (they stay in Tromsø everyday between 14:30 and 18:00, and you can drink and eat there, breathtaking). Alfheim Stadium (top football at 70 degrees North) ... There are many more places to mention, but I don't have the time.

Academic
Course recommendations
well, I arrived at the univerity during the change of the system, in this way there were not clear ideas about the couses but all techers were ready to help you and to find the best solution, so i didn't find any problems. all of them were very well organized even when they were in norvegian i find out the way to follow them and to pass the exams with good grades.

Housing
Type of housing: Apartment/House
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
I lived in a house at Stakkevollan which is about 20 minutes to university and 60 minutes to "downtown". The accomodation was superb, I didn't miss anything, and the costs for it were absolutely OK.

Of course not all student hostels/homes are like mine, there are actually two or three I wouldn't like to live, but you can change your accomodation if you want. Compared to my experiences in Germany accomodation was much better in Tromsø.

the house was big and pretty new, my room was very nice. all the system in Tromso was very well organized and easy to manage, with a big laundry and all the space for different activities. all the small houses were in a sweet campus with lot of students, many of them norvegians and many other internationals. the connection between the campus and the university was always working so well. i was entusiastic.

Regretful experience – Master's in  Pharmacy at UiT
Michael T
Norway, Graduate
, 2024
Overall
The Master’s program in Pharmacy at UiT has been one of the most disappointing academic experiences I’ve had. The structure is unclear, and students are often left to guess what is expected. Apotekpraksis in particular is assessed through an oral exam, but with no access to previous exam examples, clear guidelines, or grading rubrics — which makes preparation extremely difficult.

While some written resources and previous exams were available for Klinisk farmasi, many students still reported failing without understanding why, while others passed despite being unsure of what they did right. This inconsistency highlights a lack of transparent and structured evaluation.

A major concern is the lack of academic guidance. Some professors are often too busy to reply to emails or provide meaningful support. Students frequently receive little or no feedback — whether they fail or pass — which makes it hard to improve.

In some cases, faculty members have even implied that certain exam questions are used to “filter” students rather than assess real competence. This approach feels unfair and disheartening, especially for those who didn’t complete their bachelor's degree at UiT and are unfamiliar with local expectations.

Honestly, I deeply regret choosing this university to pursue my Master’s in Pharmacy. The stress, vague expectations, and lack of support have made it extremely difficult to learn, grow, or stay motivated. I would not recommend this program in its current form to future students

i didn't find any problems, first of all because my english was already very good and then because norvegians seak also a very good english. a good things was the organization of norvegian language courses for all the year and was a fantastic oportunity to learn a new language even if i didn't find the way to practice it after my study experience in Noerway.
