Don't bring too many clothes - you'll definitely buy a lot and have problems with closing your suitcase :-))
If you want to go snowboarding or skiing; I brought my board as it was much more convenient than renting the stuff.

Start early with your papers and term projects as some of them are really time consuming. Don't hesitate to contact or talk to the teachers, they will help you as much as they can.

I would recommend going snowboarding to the Rockies; Lake Louise, Banff, Golden (Jasper is not too good). Vancouver and whole British Columbia are great as well as Toronto and the lakes.

Studying abroad is the most wonderful and enlightening experience for any student. The benefits are tremendous, it will open many doors for you in your future. It will build your character, enhance your skills and teach you new ones. Be prepared by researching the uni you choose, their course selcetion ..program of study etc but also research the place so that you are prepared for weather and the culture....being aware of things that you will need to accommodate within your lifestyle is essential for a smooth stay in any forieng country.Keep in contact with your uni international office ...always ask questions.

Actually I was pretty well informed beforehand. Furthermore the university offered orientation days where the most important information was provided.

If you want to travel a lot and see the nature and area around Edmonton it would be a good a idea to get togehter in small group and buy a cheap car together. As distances are very long and grocery shopping can be very exhausting an own car could boost convenience.

I should have brought less clothes with me as I bought a lot and at the end I had really troubles to close my suitcase.
I should have brought my snowboard with me as renting is quite expensive and time-consuming.

Don't oversee when a paper is due and write some of them earlier (if possible) as they are all pretty time-consuming. Always be kind to all teachers and students and ask for help if needed as they are all really willing to help.

I would definitely recommend to see Vancouver. It is a really amazing city which has to offer a lot! Also Banff and its national park is worth seeing and for skiers and snowboarders I would recommend Sunshine and Lake Louise!!
The most important thing is to be friendly all the time as Canadians are the kindest people I've ever met!
