“French and Italian”
Siân C
United Kingdom, Undergraduate
Language, 2022
Overall
My course is very well taught. The language tutors are all native speakers and classes are split into written skills, oral and aural skills, and grammar classes. The culture units aim to focus on cultural aspects of the countries including: history, art, film, literature, theatre, allowing for a wide base of knowledge.

Pros
Amazing location, good course, good gym and library facilities
Cons
Expensive area to live, expensive night life, can be impersonal due to it being a city university rather than a campus one.

Personal comments
Well, in the beginning was awful because i couldnt communicate myself, even i had problems to go from the airport to the town. I couldn't understand what the taxi-driver was saying me. The first weeks were so hard because everything was new to me (opening a bank account, asking where it was everything, going to the university, making friends...) but fortunately i improved my english so fast. The third month i was able to do everything i needed in a proper way, but of course, i wasn't able to speak and to understand perfectly (even now i can have some problems). But, in summary i'd say it all went pretty well. The experience was amazing. i made so many friends, i was able to pass 3 of 4 subject i had, i learnt so many things about the english culture. And happily i learnt english. So...is there anything better than study abroad? I don't think so!

Overall
The language teachers are very enthusiastic & there's opportunities to get involved outside the lessons. The campus is nice & there's a lot of societies. However, the city itself and many of the uni services are very expensive.
