Communicating with the host university was not a problem at all, it was easy to get things accomplished as school, but you learn basic language skills to have an easier time in the rest of the city and most of the older generation in Prague are less likely to speak english outside of the tourist areas.

Here I studied in English, I tried learning Czech but as a student I found there wasn't much interaction with local Czech students.

Most of the teachers spoke english pretty well, young czechs usually speak english, but not the older generation!

I speak already czech but did not improved it during my exchange semester, i was always with international Students which i prefered though. Which was good to improove English and also to get into the real english (not university english)

without any problems, czech students speak a lot of different languages (german, russian and english). At a more populous level, they usually only speak czech, and sometimes understand russian or german.

Learning Czech wasn't an obligation for me as the language of instruction was English but I'm really interested in learning languages, especially to be more easily integrated cith local people.
