“Great uni with some slight improvements needed”
Frazer M
United Kingdom, Graduate
Engineering, Mechanical, 2020
Overall
The accommodation is exceptional. Really nicely made, very high quality, in a great location but expensive for what it is. But highly worth it and with other cheaper accommodation available, it's not too bad.
New library with a huge range of books and equipment at your disposal. New lecture halls and equipment make lectures a nice experience with WiFi all over campus.
Engineering lecturers are very good and help in any way they can. Whether that be in person or by email. Great general support within the university as well but normally has a big wait list.

Especially communication with other ERASMUS students was excellent. Language of instruction was sometimes hard to follow, but you could cope with it. Some Spanish students however, had more severe problems.

Academic
Course recommendations
I chose to take courses that were outside of my major because I knew I would have trouble getting them to transfer when i returned to the US. Therefore, I could have had better classes I feel.

Housing
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: Apartment/House
Why?
It was great to live on campus for my first experience in Hatfield. Now that I am familiar with the campus and town, I would live off campus like all other second year and upper level students
