Avoid this university!

This is a very expensive 'self-learning' university. You will not get what you're paying for or rather, accumulating debt for.

Should you experience issues which is most likely, you will be gaslighted every time. Dr Sharon Brown will downplay the issue and play with semantics.

If you have chosen to study online and your course includes placements and workshops, you will be expected to attend Armidale in person at your own cost.

Most of coordinators are arrogant and sometimes very cruel. Out of all the coordinators I met, only 3 were very nice and really cared about the students.

The resources provided on Moodle were useless most of time. I have had to search for resources from other universities to do my assessments. The assessment criteria is very confusing and as a result, you will most likely get a lower grade that you normally don't get.

If you're currently studying at UNE, a word of advice, if the coordinator asks you to fill out the unit feedback form, do not until your assessments have been marked otherwise you will be heavily criticised and marked down.

This uni is horrible. People don't work after hours and it's so hard to get in contact with anyone. Anyone who you talk to will give conflicting answers and send to on a goose chase for your answer.
The uni has horrible wifi even though it is on Eduroam
The accomodations such as Mary White college are also terrible and the staff there don't really care for your wellbeing.
This is the same with university staff. They are very incompetent at their job and don't care for other's wellbeing. I don't feel looked after at this university.
My course is very disorganised, for example it was very difficult getting placements  in first year as our placement coordinator (Suzanne Riley) had no sympathy and made no accomodation for new students who didn't have a car. Some had to go to Tamworth to do their placements because of her incompetence, when all placements should've been done in Armidale.
Armidale itself isn't a great place either, a lot of racism and the area isn't really safe.

A lot of online courses, perhaps you'll have better luck online than on campus

Avoid this university, constant bureacracy makes study at this university take twice the duration and expense that it should be because they change the rules as fast as you do your subjects. The university does everything it can to maximise the money they get from students with no care for quality standards. The university is completely out of step with all sense of reality that people are expecting a career on graduation.

Avoid this university - it is unprofessional and the degrees are completely worthless. You could learn more at home on the internet.

Avoid the University of New England Armidale, Australia at all costs. This university should be closed down so that funding can go to genuine universities. This university is a sham and a total joke.

During my stay at the Mary white college when the temperatures dropped below 0°c, I was given 1 thin blanket and also no heating. I have also had my slippers stolen. This is absolutely disgusting and cannot trust any cleaner who comes into the rooms. You can’t talk to anyone due to them clocking off so early but you can check in after they leave? I was so lost when I arrived on campus I had no one to help me not one staff member from une guided me.

This is not a real university. You can complete all the academic requirements and still be waiting (for 170 days and counting) for them to "place" you for the professional experience component of your degree. The Office of Professional Learning is pathetically incompetent. My two year degree is heading towards being a three year degree through no fault of my own.

Don't waste your money. The place is like an online diploma mill except you don't get a diploma at the end of it!

I completed Master of Social Work (Professional Qualifying) at UNE from 2017-2018. It was an online course with some mandatory face-to-face components. My experience was great. The online units/modules were easy to navigate. I could listen to lectures in my own time and at my own pace. Assessments were reasonable and not too difficult. Readings weren't excessive. Lecturers were generally supportive. I would get emails from the Uni checking in from time to time. Enrolment was simple. UNE was the only uni that did not have strict entry requirements. Overall, I am very happy I chose UNE over ACAP, WSU and ACU. I have recommended this Uni to my postgraduate friends who are already working full time and looking for flexibility. Highly recommend UNE! They now offer bespoke courses which is impressive
