Before going to Notre Dame, I had already been to the US twice, so I was able to deal with the everyday language. At first it was a bit difficult for me to understand one of my teachers, but by the end of the year, especially since I was living with an American girl, I was at ease in almost any situation.

I was fluent in English prior to starting school in the US; still struggled at times I think more because I had no chance of speaking in my native language at all; felt like my brain wouldn't process information as quickly as it used to
