I wish I had known...

Check the differences in weather and food before you go. You won't be able to change anything but it will allow you to adapt faster.

Excellent balance between a University with a high reputation and a city with the best night life after London. Excellent place if you want to travel the whole UK from there.

Final comments

Try to buy a semersterly bus ticket. Don't wonder about to much rain and fog in Manchester. It's also very industrial and a bit criminal. But in general, get there as soon as you can.

It is a good university, and Manchester is dominated by students, so there is a fantastic nightlife. The environment, though, is not that appealing.

At the end it depends on your personality and expectations prior to arrival, whether the Manchester experience was good or bad. But most people enjoyed it.

Tough academic standard. British drinking culture. Next time I might choose a hall of residence without the open corridor design.

If you want to challenge your intellectual mind or crazy party life, study in Manchester. Between these two extremes I don't see any other reasons why you should choose this particular university.
