Expenses
Main source of funding:
Family
Other sources of funding:
Government assistance<br> An ERASMUS grant
Work opportunities:
I didn't explore any work options
Personal spending habits
I spent less on food because I was living in a catered hall of residence (reason why in contrast, I paid a little bit more for accomodation than at home where I was living in a flat). I tried to make the most of this experience abroad so I went out more and travelled more than home. However, on a global scale, I spent far less than home.

Personal comments
Books are very expensive and hardly available on normal loans (1 month) when needed: a way of saving money would be to spend time in the library to study there (books can be available on short loans i.e. 2 hours). It is a trade off between spending money and time in the library. The choice is up to you.

Personal comments
I had to have a TOEFL score of 250/300 in order to be eligible to this ERASMUS program so I had absolutely no problem with the language. The interest of the experience relied for me on discovering the culture and living abroad more than improving my level of English.

I wish I had known...
That I would enjoy it that much! Although I was looking to it, I was a little bit nervous and wondering whether I would like it. Now I definitely know it was worth it.

Personal recommendation
Do not let yourself be put off by the quantity of work. It is true that we had a lot to do, more than I heard other students from my school were doing in other exchange universities, but you can always find time to go out and travel. It is just a matter of managing your time and your work effort, and I became quite skilled at it!

Final comments
If you do not fear to leave your family, country, friends for going abroad and if you are ready to adapt to different habits and cultures, then go for it! I personly think the main point of being young and a student is to have the opportunity to meet different people, to live in different places and to experience different cultures.

Academic
Course recommendations
Avoid to take too many courses with essays to submit: it is a lot of work and all deadlines are generally at the same time.

Personal comments
I prefer the system we have in my home university with a lot of projects and small pieces of work throughout the course on an individual or group basis: the weight of the final exam is less important.
