it differed from dorm to dorm. South Quad, where I stayed, was great. you had a room of your own and shared the apartment (kitchen, living room) with 3 other persons, the bathroom with one other

Just enjoy your time there, try to get around as much as possible, Columbia is a good starting point for the East coast. Rental Cars are cheap as are flights.

I spend less on the phone because the rates are cheaper and more on travel because I traveled more than at home to see as much as I could of the area. Everything else depended on the exchange rate.
