Magee College, founded in 1865, is one of four campuses of the University of Ulster, which is one of the largest universities in the British Isles. Magee College has been growing rapidly since 1984, and in 1995 had 2,500 students enrolled, of whom 1,000 were part-time. It offers courses from certificate to post-graduate research level, chiefly oriented toward business, technology and the professions but with a strong specialism in Peace and International Studies, It provides research and consultancy support to local industry, its strongest specialism being Informatics.
