I didn't speak a word Slovene when I went to Slovenia. I learned the language for one month prior to the beginning of the semester, but because the Slovenian students spoke English so well I didn't speak much Slovene with them during the semester. I learned a few phrases to be able to order food in restaurants and or buy clothes in shops, but that's pretty much it.
