Travel was the only big budget item as the other items were included in the fees and the cheap prices kept me from overspending. I traveled around Europe and within the CZ a lot for long weekends, spring break, and for a few weeks after my semester in Prague ended.

Don't go to the ATM ("Bankomat") too often as the exchange rate fluctuates and there are fees attached to using a non-home bank's ATM.

Times have changed since I was there. The dollars value at that time was quite high and the exchange rate was great. Although my friends and I pretty much ate out the whole day, we still would spend less than a pricey dinner in the US. Basically, $100 lasted me a week and a half on eating out, nightlife, internet cafes, and miscellaneous knick knacks. Today, I'd probably have to watch what I'm actually spending.

Like most places, watch out for pick-pockets! They're good, quick, and pros! Just watch your bags on the metro and be smart! Don't carry too much cash with you and always have a copy of your ID stashed in your suitcase and one with your family in the US. Should that happen, it'll make your life easier. Like I said, it's a given and can happen anywhere. Do not let that discourage you from discovering and traveling because the benefits and enrichment of the experience can never be measured in dollar value.

DONT USE YOUR TELEPHONE. Your bill will be the death of you. Alcohol can be a bit expensive. And they have pastries that are amazing and I'm pretty sure that is where all my money went.

Don't buy a lot of alcohol. Buy water at a grocery store and carry it with you because water in the Czech republic at restaraunts costs about 6 dollars for a tiny bottle.

Eastern Europe was cheaper at the time. The dollar has now fallen. Still go in the summer, in the smaller towns

travel checks are a waste of time and money. Bank-o-mats are the best.
