Ryanair flys quite cheaply from both Paris and London Stansted, although try and fly into Vasteras because the connecting bus to Uppsala is a lot easier than travelling through Stockholm. If you can get cheap flights to Arlanda then thats the best place to land - the connection is a quick and direct train ride!

I wish I had known...
I did alot of research before I went, and found that making contact with previous exchange students from my home university who had been to Uppsala University helped alot.

I would definitely say that Uppsala University is a great place to study abroad. I would definitely recommend studying during the spring semester. Sure, it means starting in the winter, but there is something about spring in Uppsala (the climate change and the activities) that is pretty damn special.

I wish I had known...
I wished I had known more Swedish. I would have tried to get a room closer to downtown. I would have brought a 'tuxedo' from home and then I would have been able to go to the traditional Gaskes.

- Go to Goteborg Nation for Valborg and make sure you get tickets, you'll have one day only and there's bound to be a HUGE line so you should find out when that day is and wake up very early. You have to get used to the 'queuing' culture. Valborg is crazy and it is probably also the best time to invite over your friends from home. - Take time to travel around in Sweden and outside. You should definitely go to Stockholm, Kiruna, Goteborg, Gotland and Lund (I'm ashamed to say that I didn't go there but everybody says it's just great). Take a week at least for Norway a long weekend for the Baltic countries and maybe Finland. St Petersburg is also bound to be pretty cool. If you have the chance you could even venture to Germany, Poland and Tchek Republick (Berlin, Warsaw, Crakow and Prague). ...

Language is the largest barrier for better student life experience
Ying S
Sweden, Graduate
Financial Management, 2021
Overall
Generally it's a good study experience, the teachers are professional and classmates are friendly. However, being the only international student in the track means sometimes you have problem understanding what people are talking after class, such as off-class discussion with teachers and group chat. Besides that, the program design is good and I do learn something here.

Uppsala Universitet is a wonderful place for exchange students for it houses approximately 1500 students each semester from all around the world. It would be a great opportunity to interact with the vast culture of the world. It was especially great because Uppsala offers a wide range of English speaking course, which is less available in other universities in Europe, except for the United Kingdom. The lecturers are really helpful and knowledgeable. I would encourage anyone thinking of exchange to apply to Uppsala.

Budget your time and money carefully coz I regretted very much for not leaving out Norway, the only Scandinavian I missed due to short of time. Learn cooking!!!Very essential!!! U might find the Swedish food will not fit your taste bud very much and the cost to eat out is extremely high!!! Also, don't forget your lap tops as internet connection is very much accesible!
