I would definitely recommend Uppsala to anyone. I had been to Sweden before so I knew what to expect. I had one of the best experiences of my life, and I am going to try my hardest to live there! Use Ryanair for dirt cheap trips around Europe via London/stansted. Work at student nations (in the pubs)-- lets you get involved and meet the swedes.
Be careful with baggage: it can be very expensive to travel with heavy suitcases!

If you want to really experience student life in Uppsala, you must join Nations' activities, which enable you to meet Swedish students (who are usually very shy)and enter local culture

Travelling can be very cheap in Sweden, since students usually have the opportunity of paying less.
To enjoy any Welfare advantage (in particuar health assistance)it's importance to get residence permit.
you have to go at least one year. One semester is not enough to dosciver everything and really get in the culture.

It depends on what you look for. Sun and warm weather is not really common there. If you want to discover Sweden and Scandinivia, go there! That is what i wanted to do.

Travel a lot i regret i didn't have time to do it. Enjoy it! That's all!
Expect to make friendships with Swedes slowly, however once you've made them you can also exp[ect them to be better friends than a lot of the other ones you'll make..

Travel at every opportunity, meet as many people as possible, and get involved. There are activities for everyone, and your stay is as good as you make it. Right when you get there you will probably feel homesick, especially if during dark winter, but it will pass.
This experience changed my life: I found my beatiful wife in Uppsala, not with blond hair, not with blue eyes, but....... from Panama, with dark hair and green eyes!!!!! Life is funny...
