Housing seemed relatively cheap to me with what you received compared to living costs at my home university. Of course, being abroad, in a different country, and on a different continent, the opportunity to travel took hold of me. The international atmosphere and opportunities to socialize with many diverse and interesting people also led to a lot of nightlife activities.

Personal comments
Sweden may have higher taxes than what you are used to so you learn the ropes with finding the cheap sources for what you need (e.g. buying alcohol on trips to Germany, finding the cheapest supermarkets in town, etc...)

I wish I had known...
NO! Vaxjo changed my life. I wish I still lived there with all my friends! Well...hold on, I lied. I wish people told me how hard it would be to leave all your friends!

I know that I've probably repeated this about a million times, but I have to say it again. Vaxjo University gave me a completely new outlook on life. I met some of the greatest friends, had a chance to travel extensively, learn another language and culture, and become an independent person. My greatest advice is to just go, and don't look back. Don't think about home. Think about where you are when you're there. The Swedes will take care of the rest. They'll show you a great time, teach you about their country, and be your friends for life.

I wish I had known...
I was lucky because I had friends from the Vaxjo U. who had come to my home U. the year before. So I was able to talk to them a lot about Sweden and therefor was prepared for it. I guess the main thing to know is that Swedes are a little hard to get to know at first but once you become friends they are the nicest, kindest, helpful friends to have. You just have to give it time.

Housing
Type of housing: A room exchange
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: A room exchange
Why?
Because I really enjoy my stay there. And I think is the best way because the contact you have with other students, not only with the international srudents but also with the students from the country (swedish in my case). Is with this close relationship that you get with the day a day contact when you can really see the differences between the cultures and the countries and that is really interesting.

The accommodation where I was, was a room in a corridor with another 12 rooms, half of the students were swedish and the other half international. We share the kitchen and the living room. I like this system where you have contact with other students and I don´t care share the kitchen and the living, I like to live with othe people. On the other hand I found that the price was really expensive but this is due the fact that Sweden is a more expensive country than Spain.

My overall experience of studying in Linnaeus University
Ahmad Z
Sweden,
International Relations, 2023
Overall
I would say that my academic journey at Linnaeus University was so interesting because I have continuously been learning and growing through my academic journey, which has further reinforced my desire to pursue jobs in the field of business intelligence and administrative tasks. In addition, my academic journey has exclusively mastered my knowledge in the research field. For instance, I have gained advanced knowledge and skills within the field of analysis and investigation, particularly in relation to business intelligence and policymaking. So, these skills made me appropriate for complex political and administrative tasks and research projects, both in the public and private sectors on a national and global scale.

Careers
The university did not offer internship programmes, though it was students' responsibility to find an internship for themselves.

The Swedish culture is a particular one. Be ready for a cultural shock, and just accept another way of doing things.
