Almost all the parties are made among the ERASMUS students (almost everyday on the vacations period and every weekend during the school period). They usually take place in private flats, student halls, in the P3 (a pavilion next to the university, built specially for that) or at the school bar (mostly Danish students here). Horsens is a very quiet town, except during the Medieval festival in the end of August, which was quite amazing: the streets were crowded and there was an incredible medieval atmosphere all over. Besides being quiet, Horsens is also a small city and there is not a tradition of going to cafés after having dinner to chat with your friends. Nevertheless, there are some places that you should not miss: Crazy Daisy (the only disco in Horsens), Koks - a pub with live music. A good alternative is going to Aarhus (30 min. by train) where you have a big variety of places where you can go during the night. There are also, once in a while, parties made in the university, which should not be missed.
Overall, you will have unforgettable parties here and probably the best ones of your life!

I wish I had known...
I wish I was more informed about Denmark and specially Horsens. Horsens a really small city and nothing happens there, but the Erasmus/student life is really good.

Vitus Bering is a small university but I enjoyed a lot studying there. The relationship between student and teacher is really good.

I chose Denmark because I wanted to go to a country with a completely diferent culture than Portugal. I succeded on that. I had the opportunity to travel from Portugal to Denmark by car, it was an unforgetable experience. I visited some friends doing Erasmus in big cities like Barcelona and Prague and I realised that studying abroad in a small city and living on Campus is much better because this way you will have a really good relationship with all the other international students. Denmark is a really nice country, I recommend to travel and meet all of it. Be really carefull with your money because Visa Electron cards are not accepted there. I enjoyed it a lot, I recommend Horsens for your Erasmus studies and Scandinavia for good travel trips.

Overall
VIA has a very active student life where even outside of the classroom we can learn more about our courses and more. Having small classes made the learning way easier since the students can have a real conversation with the teachers.

Personal spending habits
Denmark is an expensive country due to its high taxes (VAT). Every service is quite expensive, which means that every time you go to a restaurant, bar or disco and you ask for something you are paying for a service that is associated with a high tax and, thus, you end paying more than you would pay in most of the countries. Prices in the supermarket are quite reasonable, but overall they are more expensive. Nightlife can get very expensive if you want to drink (around 4/6eur. for a beer and 10eur. for a long drink). In most of the discos you don't pay an entrance fee before midnight. After that you pay between 7/12eur. Public transports are expensive as well and you should avoid them. It is not difficult to get a bike and you will probably use it most of the times to go from one place to another. If you want to use the bus often (in winter it will snow and it will be very cold) you should buy a month ticket or 10 journeys tickets). I payed around 350eur. per month for accommodation, but depending from which country you are, you might pay half of that price. A good thing about Denmark is that you don't pay anything to go to the doctor once you are registered as a citizen (you will get card with a CPR number).
Per month, I spent around 800eur., everything included.

Personal comments
Partying at home or in university related places is not expensive. Usually you pay around 0,70eur. for a beer and 1,40eur. for a long drink. You have to be careful when you go to restaurants (even fast food ones), bars and discos because it is quite expensive there. Buy as much as you can in the supermarket.
Some students find a part-time job pretty easily (hotels, factories, etc.) and are very well payed. If you want to spend a lot of money going out at night you might need to get one (specially if you are staying for one year).

The best airport to travel from Horsens is Billund. It is really close and you can find a lot of cheap flights from there.
If you chose your dormitory- Kamtjatka is about 4km from the school, but it is in the city center. Student village is right next to the school, the stanard is higher, but it's away from the center and it's more expensive.

You should visit scandinavian countries while you are in Denmark. It´s quite cheaper when you are there.
