You should be patient with the weather conditions of Netherlands, especially if you are coming from a Mediterranean country. Amsterdam is like a crossroad for many cities and countries so it can be always a point for international departures. The city is very touristic and as a result quite expensive, especially if you decide to rent an apartment. Moreover if you decide to stay in a residence first check it location (some residents are very far from the city center).

- get an appartment long before you come to Amsterdam. The living situation there is as hopeless as the one in Stockholm. Almost impossible to get an appartment. - Be prepared that the quality as far away from good and that you will pay a lot for housing and food -What compensate it all is good communication net for students, excellent nightlife with lot to offer, close to other european countries; I recommend a sailing trip up in north part of Holland which usually is organized by university student board
