I wish I had known...
I was really well prepared because i got a bunch of info from alumni who went there. I had also the chance to find an American roommate (through Internet) before getting there. That helped me a lot: he found the appartment and brought his furnitures!

I had wonderful time there and i learnt a lot. I don't think i could work in North Carolina now, but it's a great place to study and interact with local people.

be aware that you are about to study at a graduate school! This means that classes as well as assignments are generally more demanding than undergraduate classes.

Wake Forest is a great place to study! The campus is gorgeous and the people are very friendly and helpful. Everyone who wants to experience the "true US" (aside the big cities) will like it there!

The dorms should be more clean. The school should try to have more activities for students (not acadamic aspect) to interact.

This school is good, but its work flow is really heavy for international students. If you are planning to apply or already accepted by this school, you may want to visit the classes to make sure whether this is what you want or whether you can get used to it.

Personal spending habits
If you are used to eat French food, (even cooking yourself) that will definitely cost you more in the US! I spent more in pubs in the US than at home where i mostly used to get free drinks in parties... Travel in the US costed me too: New Orleans, NYC, Florida, SC... (but transportation costs are cheaper compared with home tho).

Not really. I knew pretty well the people that had been there before me and that gave me a good insight of what to expect.

I think if you want to learn and get to know more of the United States, it is a right place to come.If you are looking for party and exciting social events, you may want to chose another city.
