Living in france was a great opportunity for me to practice my French, However I did not get to speak that much French since most AUP students were English speaking. Therefore I had to make up conversations with random people (taxi drivers, sellers at shops, etc.) to practice my French. I regained many of my skills in French speaking and my accent became better, however I cannot say that my French dramatically improved. As for my English, it became a little bit better since most of my friends were American, and I had to speak in English all the time.

Well according to my language and communication experience in the university it was no problem since it was in English and I am fluent in it. However, the host country language and communication experience was the challenge as I have had a fair knowledge of the French language before going but due the regular interaction with the people there i think i have gained a lot of knowledge and my language skills have developed pretty well.

AUP has a very international community (something like 1000 students, 100 nationalities). If you're studying there, you're studying in English so it's the default language on campus. If you want to learn French, you have to force yourself to hang out with the francophones on campus or go off campus to meet with locals.

Since AUP is an English-speaking school, it's really easy to avoid speaking French. The French classes are intense and helpful. But if you want to work on your French you have to make a conscious effort to stay away from English.

The french are mean and pretend that they don't understand French unless you speak it perfectly..it takes awhile to get used to their attitude..But in the end, you learn to have an attitude and not to put up with crap from the french!!

Attending at an American University in Paris gives me the opportunity of learning French and at the same time as I follow the American undergraduate program.
