Great university feel, attentive teachers and friends for life!

Overall
Aston university guarantees a true university experince with its campus right in the city centre of Birmingham. The campus has all student accomodation together, lecture buildings, football pitch, gym, gardens lakes, all of it together in one campus. This means you get to know almost everyone ( if you have a busy social life) and you get to live right next to your classmates too. As for the classes I was lucky to be in a small course and most  of our classes where very small ( 12 people or less) which means teachers knwo you by your name, they are able to provide better individualised learning and feedback. Most lecturers ( if not all) are always open to book appointments and go through material covered that you havent understood or even guidance for courseworks. Language teachers offer extra hours to practice your oral and even to prepare for interviews in other languages. In general great uni , nothing bad to say!

Final comments
you have to try to meet people and talk with them, partecipate to student life expetially in Guild. Travel with rail is very expensive better book the rail in advance or use the bus is longer but cheaper.

Overall
Small, compact campus with a lot of green space and an aesthetic lake with a triangle fountain. I also like the use of the study booths in the library and the fact there is a quiet floor. The student union is great too, it is a little old but it is still a nice building with common rooms and a big hall where I take part in the dance sports club. I like the societies too, however I feel there needs to be more societies/clubs, for example, art, more types of dance(tap etc), cocktail society. Overall the societies are good though and I am part of 3 which are very enjoyable.

Housing
Type of housing: On campus
Arranged by: Host university
If returning, I would choose: On campus
Why?
All social life is happening on campus. You need to be around the campus most of the day (lectures, library, group meetings). If you live off campus, you lose a lot of time and it is less safe.

Personal comments
Old residences are very worn and rooms are tiny, kitchens and bathrooms are shared by up to 14 students. The new residence offers more comfort but is very expensive.

comunication with local students was poor due to strong presence of germanspeaking exchange students. international variety in terms of languages in general is pretty poor in aston. undergraduate exchange students come onlyfrom germany, austria and france
