“Great university feel, attentive teachers and friends for life!”

Aston university guarantees a true university experince with its campus right in the city centre of Birmingham. The campus has all student accomodation together, lecture buildings, football pitch, gym, gardens lakes, all of it together in one campus. This means you get to know almost everyone ( if you have a busy social life) and you get to live right next to your classmates too. As for the classes I was lucky to be in a small course and most of our classes where very small ( 12 people or less) which means teachers knwo you by your name, they are able to provide better individualised learning and feedback. Most lecturers ( if not all) are always open to book appointments and go through material covered that you havent understood or even guidance for courseworks. Language teachers offer extra hours to practice your oral and even to prepare for interviews in other languages. In general great uni , nothing bad to say!

Small, compact campus with a lot of green space and an aesthetic lake with a triangle fountain. I also like the use of the study booths in the library and the fact there is a quiet floor. The student union is great too, it is a little old but it is still a nice building with common rooms and a big hall where I take part in the dance sports club. I like the societies too, however I feel there needs to be more societies/clubs, for example, art, more types of dance(tap etc), cocktail society. Overall the societies are good though and I am part of 3 which are very enjoyable.

Living with first years as I did can be extremely annoying so knowing which flats to live is advisable.

In my opinion:
Most people loved it.
Important factors in my choice
(1) Unimportant – (4) Very important
Personal recommendation
Enjoy the nightlife, try to travel as much as possible especially at the beginning (Scotland, Wales, Irland) and discover the nice places in B'ham and around.
Do bare in mind that a first (A) is quite hard to achieve wheras the span of a 2:1 (B) is large and relatively easy to achieve.

In summary it was a very interesting and fascinating experience to have studied abroad with all the ups and downs that do exist. I really loved and enjoyed it. Going home was difficult but made me love my country even more.

When you arrive in your accomondation. There is nothing in the room. You dont even have coathangers. So there is a Poundland, its directly at the train station. They have cheap stuff for household. Than you have no blanket- go to open market. You will get it there pretty cheap!

Its cheaper to travel by bus- National Express. Its at Digbeth Station. In January there is a trip from ACRA. You should definetly take a part.
Exams period is quite stressful. Take lot of time for revision. And if you have questions or problems ask your teacher. Exams are very serious at Aston. Good Luck!

“A lot of support and a good student life.”

I have found in my two years at Aston University that the lecturers are very helpful and go above and beyond to offer any support they can. They do not wait for you to come to them if they think you need extra support and offer their help and support straight away. I have really enjoyed my course (International Business and French), and have found the combination of business modules in French and English very helpful in giving me a well rounded education. The campus is amazing and really improves and promotes a fun student life.
