Avans University of Applied Science

I am a second-year student International Business and Languages. I learn about marketing, sales, economics and management but also develop my languages, English, French and Spanish. Although I think I could be better in French and English, if they would teach us more and about useful subject. 
I can say I am also developing as a person, learning to be more independent and working in teams.

The international experience you receive with Avans is just enormous, you can meet people from all around the world, and that way you make connections. Furthermore, the teachers are usually professionals in their own field, which decided to teach and that way they can bring a lot to the table with what they have experienced. The atmosphere in the classroom is mostly non-formal and there is non-existent power-distance between you and the teacher. As for the projects which you do, every one of them is connected to the subjects you study and has a real-world implementation.

Mijn ervaring op avans was alles behalve positief, docenten weten vaak niet hoe brighstpace werkt, en de modules richten hun brightspace pagina in op een andere manier waardoor de module informatie vinden een heel karwei is en het makkelijk is om iets over het hoofd te zien. ik heb zelfs persoonlijk de docenten 2 weken in de module hier op aan moeten spreken omdat niemand zich kon inschrijven bij hun groepjes. Daarnaast zijn ze ook verschikkelijk onduidelijk en communiceren veel docenten erg slecht, zowel in persoon als via brighstpace of mail. Er wordt ook weinig gedaan om studenten te helpen met hun leertraject, Avans heeft geen hulp aangeboden en de enige ‘’hulp’’ die Avans aanbiedt is in de vorm van het schrijven van eindeloze zelfreflecties. Ik ben helaas toch gevallen voor hun introductieles waarin ze een heel mooi beeld schetsen van de school, maar dit is alles behalve realiteit. Hun ‘’hoge’’ waardering is gebasseerd op lucht en zou ik niet voor waar aannemen. Ga alsjeblieft ergens anders dan dit grafhol studeren als je die mogelijkheid hebt, blijf zo ver mogelijk weg van deze school en hun mooie praatjes.
