Because I believe it is the best way to get to know American students - how they really are. However, I only had American students as neighbours and shared appartment with a girl from Nigeria and a girl from China, which was really challenging, but also a great experience, when we found out why we act and react so differently to things. So quite a culture shock! Luckily I ended up with a deeper understanding of the two cultures (+ the American culture - if you can say there is only one).

On-campus housing is kind of expensive !

because I like to try different things. Moreover, A house in the city gives more independance;

..because you live together with other American students (also from other programs)
