Because I had limited funds, I did not want to spend too much on food groceries.
Housing was more expensivew because my rent was very high. Since most of my friends lived in the same building or around the corner, there was no immediate need to use my mobile phone to call. Because calling here is more expensive (in Denmark I had a prepaid card, while at home I have a montly subscription) I text-messaged a lot. I went out more often in Denmark, leading me to spend more in the Nightlife category.
If you're on exchange you want to see more of the countries and of the surrounding countries.
In general, prices in Denmark are a bit higher than in the Netherlands.

You are going to spend a lot of money in the first two weeks; the first week you are following a Danish Crash Course, the second week is general Introduction week. You will be going out a lot then, thus spend more money.
A good cost-saving tip: get a bike, it's cheaper than buying a monthly pass if you get the bicycle early in the semester.

Cost of life is in Denmark is higher than in Italy. I saved money just for the telephone because I had not my mobile phone(italians are always speaking at mobile...)and maybe for nightlife because often the entrance of clubs was free for international students, but drinks were more expensive.

I spent four days in Stockolm and it was a financial disaster! We had a very humile but expensive accomodation and we spent a lot for services (Boats, parking, museums entrance...). If you want to save money in denmark you have to shop at discount, eat at home with friends and go out after dinner.

Housing is about 3 times more expensive than in home, and since this is the item you most spend in becomes the more important to take into account. In second place is food, it is also about 3 time the prices from back home, but you always can try to look for thge cheapest kind of food, so is easier to manage.

The cheapest supermarket is Netto, but to go there you don´t have to spect to much since they are out of items regularly after lunch time and the service is not a sgood as in other supermarkets.

Compared to Vienna, the prices are generally higher, especially for food and housing. You can also spend your savings on the nightlife, if you want (a beer for 6-7 euros is normal), but in student bars you can save a lot. Mobile phoning was extremely cheap compared to Austria. Of course, I spent more on travelling - is is cheap to see all other scandinavian capitals with low cost airlines!

You should open a bank account in Denmark. Denmark is not part of the EURO-zone (Danish crown), and therefore you have to pay fees for withdrawing money with a banking card from a EURO-country.

Standard of living in Denmark is higher than in France, especially for daily spendings. Therefore, even if we paied attention to our spendings, they were still higher than in my home country.

No real significant financial surprises since I knew what to expect. I budgeted my spendings month by month. In addition I used to have a student job to have extras.

Copenhagen is known as one of the most expensive city. Paying a bit attention (Netto + hot tilbud + ...), you can cope with it and have a lot of fun

Never pay entry fees for a bar or nightclub. There is always something free somewhere, or try to go earlier or send a text message before to get in for free
