If you're looking for an easy ride and good grades, steer clear of the finance courses. However, if you want the opportunity to do courses that aren't available at most UK unis, then it might be worth sacrificing grades for the experience.

Whatever you do, don't pack lightly! The winter is freezing, and can get down to -40, but this has little or not effect on socialising and going out, so don't worry. Plus, taxis in Montreal are very inexpensive.
There is no WLAN at the university available - so bring your network cable (ethernet cable) with you.

Please: benefit from Montreal's perfect location for travelling! I would recommend several national parks in the area as well as the US east cost. The most convenient mode of transport: rent a car! (the best one: www.rent-a-wreck.ca)
As I was very good informed, thanks rapports of former exchange students, there is nothing special I would have known before I went to Canada.

I recommend the professors and also the students to be more interested in exchange students and to integrate them more in the courses.

As Quebec is very different from other provinces I recommend to visit other parts of Canada out from Quebec to get a good overview of the diversity of Canada.
