I think it is bad that the university does not help exchange students in finding accommodation. However, I know that it is difficult in Madrid, as there is an overall lack of student accommodation in the whole city.

great location only 15min walk from icade and 10min from Sol. tiny room and cramped living area but typical in centre of madrid. very clean. very caring family, did cooking and cleaning.

I would do the same! Meaning that I am very pround to have found a flat to share with local people in order to improve my language skills in Spanish. Morever it is very useful to live with people knowing the city, there are like personal guides.
