English is the language in the University and you must know it to get around here. Outside it, though, German (of course) prevails and it's a bit tougher, but most of the Germans I talked to knew some English so I seldomly had too many problems.

Why not come to Jacobs University Bremen you ask me :

1. Shit binding loan policy.
BEWARE THE LOAN POLICY !!!
Don't go to Jacobs thinking that people from your country went to Jacobs earlier. The loan policy has changed and it's shit. I didn't know it either and am trapped here at Jacobs. Think before you commit to loans. With the new policy they can suck around 55000 Euro from you if the tuition deferral is 9000 each year. And trust me Jacobs is no way near that worth.

2. The undergrad programs are getting worse.
With the best professors leaving the campus the new recruits are rather not experienced at teaching and making the students understand. There are only a handful umm like 3~4 professors that I came across that are really good even though they are planning to leave soon.

3. Being International in Germany has its cons.
Thinking of going to Germany is way too different than US. Without language fluency.
So if you are thinking to earn the tuition/accommodation fee by yourself better learn German till B2.

4. Although they call themselves international, its not much international as expected.
The major student body is from South Asia and eastern Europe mostly from Pakistan/India area and Albania/Turkey/Romania Area. Literally students from the US are somewhere around 30 students in the whole campus. The students are usually divided and stay with the people from their country.

5. University is 100% profit oriented.
Recently Jacobs converted it's research building used for classes and lectures to a residential college  in hope to increase the number of students in the new class of 2022/2023. With the university lacking resources for proper lecture halls that can accommodate students properly it's a reckless money making stunt that the uni is doing that would doom itself sooner or later. Students even have to sit on the floor/on the window beam in the classrooms due to insufficient spaces.
Even the professors are disappointed with the university not giving emphasis  over academic quality and extending resources.

6. Its location

It is in Bremen-Nord. Not even in the Bremen city (maybe 20 km away from city). Even Bremen city is not that big compared to other German cities. So less opportunities within Bremen for international students. And the weather is SHIT from October to February. Literal SHIT !!!!!

7. German public university are wayyyyy better (Research online)
So its competitive for international students to get a job in really good companies in Germany. And without German Level C2 it is just impossible to land at a good job in the best company in Germany.

Very luxurious compared to American Dorms. I enjoyed having privacy without complete social isolation.

I am a native English speaker so I had no problems with English skills. I did want to improve my German. Even though I am fluent, I wished I had more opportunities to use the language.
