JYVASKYLA IS A BEAUTIFUL PLACE TO STUDY AND IT HAS A GOOD BALANCE BETWEEN STUDY LIFE AND SOCIAL LIFE, I COULD NTO HAVE ASKED FOR MORE!! IF YOU PLAN ON GOING ENJOY AS MUCH A SYOU CAN...THE FINNS WIL ONLY INTERACT WITH YOU IF YOU MAKE THE FIRST ATTEMPT BUT ONCE YOU DO THEY ARE THE MOST NICEST PEOPLE IVE EVER MET, THEY ARE GENUINELY FRIENDLY AND WARM PEOPLE AND WILLTRY TO HELP YOU AS MUCH AS THEY CAN..ALSO INTERACT WITH THE FINNISH STUDENTS; YOU ARE USUALLY ASSIGNED TUTORS AND THEY HELP YOU TO SETTLE DOWN TO EVERYDAY LIFE. Its good atmosphere, as you meet other people from different cultures & the lecturers are also foreign, plus local ones.

Ski as much as you want & swim in the cold lakes. winter sports is the the key to fun & fitness here.

I wish I had known that the winter ends at the beginning of May and that at the beginning of January there is very little sun in Finland.

There are many different journeys organized by the university and I would recommend to take part in all of them because they are worth of this.

Don't drive too fast because the penalty is very expensive (more than 130 EUR.) Take your skis. Go to Lapland and to Aland Islands.

I've been studying with logistics major. In JAMK (my university), there are some excellent teacher, but the rest are also fine and kind-hearted. The environment is dynamic, obviously a chance to practice foreign language (English, Finnish). The curriculum is interesting and sufficient.

If you go there you should go for at least a weekend to San Petesburg it is cheap and amazing. It is one of the most beautiful cities in the world.

Go and see Russia and Estonia, these places are really nice and not like we westerners are used to. Also keep in mind that Finnish people are normally not big talkers (especially guys). Don't take that personal and take time to build a relationship.
