There's so much to do - so many new friends to party with and visit. Also, the studies are more relaxed than in Sweden resulting in more time to spend money.

- eating in the Mensa is quite OK, and very cheap (maximum 6 DM) - eating out several days a week gets very expensive in the long run

I spend less on food due to the differences in prices (pound versus euro). more on travel bacause I ski a lot and more on phone because there is no internet access at halls of residence and it is extremely difficult to get the internet access with any of the companies here.

I took more opportunities to travel around and abroad, so it costs. Price level is higher in Munich than the rest of Germany (except a few other places) and most W. European countries.

Munich is a VERY expensive city. Travel prices were very reasonable but I travelled a lot more, and, I suppose went out a lot more than I would have done at home.

Go to the many flea-markets to get what you can't afford new. The one at the Ostbahnhof is a good bet. Beer is usually the least expensive thing you can drink, soft drinks included!
